DURABILITY
Paws, claws, and hardwood floors? No worries!
Hardwood floors are built to handle the hustle and bustle of busy families, including your furry companions. Known for their durability, our floors can withstand the playful energy of pets, sharp claws, and occasional mishaps—all while maintaining their timeless beauty for years to come. Choosing the right wood species ensures your floors stay strong against daily wear and tear from your four-legged friends. You can enjoy a home that’s both pet-friendly and stylish, without compromising on quality or longevity.
HARDNESS
Each type of hardwood has its own level of hardness. For example, domestic woods like walnut, cherry, and birch are softer compared to others such as maple, hickory, and oak.
The hardness of hardwood is measured using the Janka Scale, which provides a reliable way to understand how resistant a wood species is to dents and scratches. This measurement is based on the amount of force required to embed a steel ball halfway into the wood.
The Janka Scale includes ratings for both domestic and imported wood species. However, these ratings don’t directly apply to engineered wood floors. While the Janka rating gives a general idea of a wood’s hardness, other factors like how the wood is cut and the type of finish applied also play a significant role in its durability and overall performance.
